About the Old Icehouse Mercantile
Located the historic Hessel Heritage House in the heart of the Les Cheneaux Islands, the Old Icehouse Mercantile offers unique gifts, local art, and convenient groceries.
Old Icehouse Mercantile is located in the historic home of Esther Fox, situated at the corner of M-134 and Pickford Ave in Hessel, MI. We're named for the icehouse just behind the shop, which used to sell and store ice. The house itself has been through many iterations throughout the years, including a boarding house, an antiques shop, and most recently, Woods & Waters Ecotours. Our goal is to preserve the wonderful history of the Les Cheneaux Islands that exists in this house!
